Within our universe there are many different planes or dimensions of reality. We live in a
physical plane but part of us is from an energy plane as well. This energy plane is the
source of our spirit, or soul. Understanding the existence of this spiritual energy plane (or
spirit world) is the key to understanding that we are all beings made up of part physical
and part spiritual; two opposite halves making one whole. The physical part of our being
is born and dies but because the spiritual part is from the energy plane it is able to leave
the physical body at the point of death and return to the spirit world for a period of time.
This may be any length of time as we understand it and can vary from years, hundreds of
years or possibly more. The spirit world does not recognise time in the same sense that
we do as we have a physical restriction on our understanding of time. This return may be
a chance to recharge in the way a battery does or it could be an opportunity to evaluate
the learning achieved from the physical life just ended. Whatever does happen during
this return and however long it takes, these spirits may then be reborn in another
physical body or become
The whole point of this is for the spirit to keep learning through being reborn in our
physical world. This continues over and over until the spirit has reached a stage where it
no longer requires to do this anymore. The rules of Karma describe this in a very
appropriate way by saying, ‘The soul is to progress to the highest level of existence and
become one with the universe’. Once this ultimate stage of learning has been reached
the spirit becomes part of the overall energy in the spirit world once again, which is where
it sprang from in the first place. This is the energy that makes up the universe. The
reason for all this is unclear but if the universe is a living body it makes sense that it
needs to grow. And this is part of a continuing cycle as new spirits are continually born
from and returning to this universal energy.
Each time a spirit joins a physical body it seems to be for a particular reason. It may be
that the situation of the lifetime involved will provide a point of learning that is still
required. This can only be possible to decide before the life starts if every life follows a
path. Even allowing for the effects of free will, a physical life may still provide a degree of
what is planned or expected. The question of fate in the sense that you have no control
over your life because it has been fully mapped out for you is difficult to come to terms
with. I am sure that this narrow idea of fate is not entirely the case and free will does play
a part in every life. But it is also possible that free will is just us tapping into our
knowledge of the spirit world and doing what is expected in the life chosen. Another
possibility is that the talents or inclinations we are born with are there to help us to
achieve what we need to in this life. After researching this I have formed an opinion that
we are all following a path that may be quite wide to allow for some diversions. But
ultimately we will achieve at least part of the learning expected and that’s what is
important. Our spirit can always come back for another go if the exact learning point is
missed! However, I’m not sure who decides what learning is required but there must be
an ultimate aim. What this is can only be guessed at but the answer lies somewhere in
the spirit world itself. Until we go there we will not really know. So remember to find out
when your turn comes.
It has been well documented that in the moments before the point of death many people
see their deceased friends or relatives who they often say they have come to meet or
take them. By recognising someone to follow, the spirit is more likely to be guided back to
the spirit world successfully. We all seem to be part of a spirit group that is reborn
together and so to be greeted in this way will reinforce the connections of the group.
People who have an important effect on your life, either good or bad, are probably within
your spirit group. But being reborn together does not mean you always play the same
parts. You may be father and daughter in one life and mother and son in another. You
may even change sex in different lives. The combinations are endless. The most
important group member, however, will be your soul mate. You will know when you meet
again, it’s like no other feeling you will ever have for someone. So, being part of a spirit
group is important, along with your spirit’s need to go home. This becomes apparent just
before the death of the physical body when a bright light is seen. This light is the energy
your spirit is returning to, and wants to return to. It is home. The physical body dies and
is no more but the spiritual body lives on.

death and rebirth again. Think of the cycle that affects us in the most noticeable way, the
seasons. Spring is birth, Summer is mature life which becomes productive in Autumn and
dies in Winter. Then the whole cycle starts with Spring once again. Our spiritual lives are
the same and the learning we achieve is the produce. Every cycle produces something.
Our days are also in cycles. We wake, we live the day and we sleep. When we are awake
our physical body takes over but when we sleep the spiritual part of us is more in control
and may even return to the spirit world during this time. When we have the link
to our physical brain records this in a way we recognise. This may be highly symbolic or it
may include visions of people or situations we know. is another form of
this journey back to the spirit world which is recognised in a more physical way than
dreaming.
Scientists have now begun to realise that everything in the universe is made of the same
type of matter, energy. This confirms what ordinary people have been coming to realise
themselves over many years. Without the restrictions of needing physical proof (I’ve
never been sure how proof of the spirit world would be physical anyway) there are more
of us aware of the existence of the spirit world than anyone realises. It is because we are
uncomfortable discussing these matters with each other that we are unaware just how
many of our friends and family understand and accept this spiritual knowledge. Try

experiences that get them to this conclusion, but they have got there all the same. For

recognise. This takes much skill and practice which involves years of learning. I believe
that we all have the means to do this but most of us are not aware of this ability or do not
